  Thanks Mad Sweeny for posting that. I had to work and am so glad to be able to see it. It just makes me so sick that they are seeming to get by with it. It's the same fight I had and the same excuses they used toward me. I

  What is the furtherest your car group traveled to a return visit that counted as time?

  growing up i lived in the middle of florida in the southern part.

  i had a friend whose father was an elder, and would stay at their homes during the weekends.

  one of the "rules", as we all know jw love rules, was that who ever spent the night had to go out in field service on saturday.

  When we pioneered as a newly married couple that is all we did was drive. We would make one call in town than drive an hour and a half to the territory do five to six homes than drive to the other end of the territory another hour drive and do a couple of doors five or six then drive back to where we had been. I am a very active person so sitting in the car that long I was going crazy.

  Plus no one wanted to use their car in service so they would all pile into our small Honda Civic. My husband would pack 7 into our car. 4 in the back and 3 in the front. Even though I was the wife and half owner of the car I always had to sit in the middle of the back set as the brothers had to sit in the front and the sisters all sat in the back. There was not enough seat belts for everyone of course and my husband said that it was OK for them not to be belted in because the law said you had to wear a seat belt but if there was not one available for use that it was OK for them not to be belted. I was always holding my breath that we did not get in a accident as the third person sitting in the front straddling the gear sift would have been killed.

  Looking back it was total craziness. Our car would bottom out all the time with all the weight in it. Plus it looked insane for this tiny car to come up to someone's home packed with people and everyone had to have their turn which meant that sometimes half the car would have to get out to let those like myself trapped in the back to get out then when we came back to the car they would get back out to let us in. I used to be so miserable as I would most days only get out three or four times in 8 to ten hours of sitting. And to top it all off most of the other pioneers hated me and would not speak to me. So here I am packed into my car and everyone talking around me like I am not even there.

  I was so depressed that I would sometimes think of bring a razer blade and slitting my wrists no joke, I really just wanted to die, I hated my life so much. I would wonder if anyone in the car would even care if I bleed out or if they would just stop the car and shove me out and keep driving.  

  Looking back those times just seem so dark and depressing and sick. Whenever I would bring up that it was crazy and insane to drive and drive and drive and drive and drive, plus no one helped us with gas money so it was all our money being wasted, I was told the angles were watching and happy we were trying to reach just one person. 

  It's all just so sad and crazy.

  with the recent leak and viewing of the elders video on the new standard construction kingdumb halls the rank & file brobots have officially become employees of a billion dollar publishing and now real estate company, equipped with 7 ceo's and many businessmen as shrewd and as money hungry as any rival fortune 500 company.. the new kingdumb halls look like (i have to give it to them) expertly designed commercial properties that any major office, restuarant or commercial leasing company would package as a ultra versatile space!!!

  the old kingdumb halls where a tough resale to the general public because of the custom designing aspects of the old kingdumb halls.

  they have completely done away with that issue with these new versatile properties which can be converted to an office/restaurant/repair garage/clinic.

  It's just amazing. And no one that I have heard in the JW world seems to think this is a money making project. Just amazing how blind the want to be.

  Musical video on JW-TV February monthly program - must see !!

  you must see the musical video at the end of this month program (aprox.

  at 1:04:30).... i don't like to use "must" but this is wow... if you think they couldn't get any lower... just be prepared...

  How about the house that the cart is parked in. When my husband and I pioneered we lived in a 1950's mobile home that the rent was dirt cheep. We ate bean's and rice so as to put all of our money pioneering. We would never have dreamed nor could we even have afforded a home like that one in a our wildest dreams. Where I live now that home would cost 250,000. How do you pay for a home like that flopping whoppers part time because you did not go to collage.

  What about all the brothers we hear about all the time in Africa who swim through crocodile infested waters to get to the meeting carrying their cloths on the heads. How fair is that to those poor brothers who sacrifice their lives every time there is a meeting. It's all we hear about in the year book.  Yet this couple live in a very nice home and by the ocean.

  Must be hard to pioneer now days.

  i was just thinking back to the first time i found this awesome forum...years before i eveni joined up and starting posting myself.. i was so encouraged and happy to see that i was not alone!

  i was not the only one who was observing the org, and all of its aspects and thinking "seriously?

  This board helped save my sanity. I truly thought I was going crazy as I felt so alone in the world. I was a born in and it was all I knew. I had no friends outside of the religion nor family and I had  no true friends inside of it, nor family.

  Flipper and Mrs Flipper are the first people who reached out to me and I will always feel indebted to them. They are wonderful people and they mean the world to me. They are my true friends. I can never thank them enough for all the help they have given me, and I would never have met them without this board.

  I am just so glad for this place.

  Site issues: Jan 02 Update (Sign In)

  i've deployed a fix for people affected by sign-in issues caused by having multiple accounts associated with the same email address.

  here's how to activate the fix:.

  you must attempt to sign in using the email address associated with your account (not a username) and must have access to that mailbox.. if there are multiple accounts associated with the email address then you will be shown a warning message with the option to have an email sent to repair your account.. the email will contain a link to a page showing all the accounts associated with the same email address and allow you to select the one you want to be active (it will disassociate all the other accounts from the email address).. once you have completed the process then you should be able to sign in as normal.

  Did you AWAKEN from the JWs by yourself?

  i was thinking about how so many posters here on jwn are frustrated and frantic to help their loved ones get away from the brainwashing of jws, and how much advice is given about how to help family members and loved ones.

  i considered my own leaving and that it was internal turmoil based on the teachings getting weirder and child abuse issues, to name just a few, and it made me wonder:.

  did you self-awaken or were you assisted by the gentle proddings of a friend or family member?

  I agree with Simon and flipper. I had listened to Dateline with Barbara Anderson in 2002 but I convinced myself it was not really true, that it happened only in her area and she much have misunderstood it, etc. It was not until I saw pedophiles in my hall myself that I believed it. If someone had been in my face telling me that it was a cult as did happen it just made me more sure it was the "truth". But it was seeing as flipper said injustices myself that I woke up.

  So with me I totally agree that gentle way is so much better than the blow horns and yelling in front of the Kingdom. I know I have been told that I need to do that but it just turned me off when I was in and I try to treat people like I want to be treated.

  And a huge shout out to this sight Simon and thoes like flipper and Mrs. flipper who helped me so much reallize I was not crazy and gave me so much encouragement. I do not know what I would have done or where I would be now with out this place to come and read and know I am not alone.

  "The Friends"

  i have only come across this term very recently on jwn and in an "apostate" video i watched yesterday.

  never have i heard anyone refer to jw's as "the friends" here in the uk.

  is it just used in america?.

  Used all the time here in the Northwest, even when starting meetings and conventions. The brother on the stage will say friends lests take our seats.

  Why is the GB determined to delete the few enjoyable aspects of being a JW?

  it seems the gb is trying to give the jws a more modern, friendly image.

  new website, new logo, cartoons for instructing children, literature carts, slimmed-down books and magazines, etc.

  yet on the other hand they delete some of the things many jws enjoy most: the book study in private homes, congregation picnics and large get-togethers, private group watchtower study sessions, colorful socks for men, denim dresses for women etc.
